Along the Menai Straits

Absolutely stunning weather across North Wales over the past few days, without a single cloud in the skies. Unfortunately, despite the incredible clarity, some strong winds meant that our planned activities (of taking Neil on a flying lesson!), had to be curtailed and replaced with ‘ground activities’.

From the relative shelter of Port Dinorwic, it was hard to believe that it wasn’t a perfect flying day, as the Menai straits were looking rather calm and tranquil. Higher up the hill it was a different story though!

The coastal path section to Bangor is a real stunner – especially on a day like today, as it passes close by to the water as well as through old woodlands.

There are plenty of benches to stop and enjoy the views and a few bird hides as well.

Someone had done a good job with the lawn over at Plas Neuadd.

We made a loop back through to the docks in time for a leisurely late lunch at the Swellies cafe – out side right on the waters edge, where it was almost too hot to sit in the direct sunlight!

After brews at The Cottage, we took a final sightseeing walk aver to the slate quarry to admire Snowdon and the surrounds.

Then back to The Cottage to dinner outside to make the most of the warm weather! North Wales at its finest, even without the scenic flight option…

When we finally retreated inside, we had a night cap and finally chomped into the chocolate climbing gear that Tracey had bought me!
