Final day of the Peak District Cycle/Climb expedition, and woke to find a warm breeze blowing. This meant that the tents, for the first time, were almost dry! Great news as this meant less weight to carry and it would be easier to sort out once home. The lads had discovered that the village pub were offering take-out bacon butties, so two were dispatched to source breakfast while two packed the tents away. John and I opted for his porridge, as I was still full from the meal last night.

From Hulme End, John headed north to retrieve the minibus and trailer, while the lads descended through the Manifold Valley, we me tailing on behind. As I crossed the river, a Kingfisher darted upstream! Next it was back through the tunnel…

Predictably, after 25minutes, I found them back at Wetton Mill Tea Shop! They had got me a brew in though!

Then it was onward and downward, through the dry river valley. A perfect cycle touring gradient – gradual downhill. There was a vote at Thor’s cave, which resulted in us continuing the ride rather than walking up to get inside it.

It had felt quite a windy night. Clearly it had been, as a tree had fallen since we last passed this point!

Past Beeston Tor this time…

And onward to Waterhouse…

We arrived around midday, and spent a while fitting the bikes and gear into the trailer before heading straight back to Wales…

A marvellous adventure, totalling 94km(ish) of self powered travel, via Black Rocks, Harbrough Rocks, Beeston Tor and Wordsworth Climbing Wall, over 6 days.
