After four days ‘in transit’, we’ve made it back home to The Cottage in North Wales. We wheeled the bags out of Heathrow in a bit of a daze after not much sleep on the overnight flight…

Happily, the car was still where we’d left it and despite being coated in a thick layer of dust, it started first time. It felt like climbing into a tiny toy car, after a month in the Toyota Truck! The wheels looked so small!

Our first stop on the family and friends tour, was Frensham, to visit Lloyd and Sylvia in their new home, where the weather gave us a good welcome back as well.

Moving on a few days later, we opted for another early start to miss the traffic, and got to Fort Martin in time for breakfast, where the garden was almost as dry as the desert we’d just left

In the following 48hours we managed to pack it a busy social schedule. Ideally, a good sleep would have been fitted in, but instead I pushed through to meet up for various coffees and beers with some of my school friends in Kettering, then caught up with Michelle for tea at a funky cafe.

I even made it to the Loddington village hall social for last orders to meet mum and the locals.

Another well timed drive got us back up the M6 without traffic issues and into North Wales as the sun was setting.

We arrived at The Cottage around 22:00, feeling utterly spent. We’d made it. The Namibia Expedition had returned! Tired, dirty, exhausted and elated. Moments later, we were both in a deep, deep sleep…
