Back out at the coast today, teaching on a Mountain Training ‘Rock Skills’ course.

It was another beautiful day, but the slight breeze gave a nippy edge to the temperatures, reminding us that it’s still only April.

After getting back home, Clare and I had dinner together before driving out to Dinas Dinlle, to catch the last of the light along with the remainder of the recent swell.

You can’t really tell from the photos, but incredible lines of corduroy waves were arriving in gentle sets. We met John at the parking area and hurriedly got changed as the ‘golden hour’ of light shone across the beach.

The rides were not as long as the day before, but the sunset, glassy waves and the fact that we were the only surfers made up for that. What an evening!

We got out as the sun hit the horizon and the temperatures began to drop, but John stayed in to catch the final few waves.

If you zoom in you can just make him out, zooming along the wave in his surf kayak.

No one wanted to rush away from the stunning colours of the sunset, so we brewed up a mint tea and sat together until it got dark a mind we started to get cold. Fantastic to be able to make the most of these conditions.
