It would have been the perfect day to get some rest after such a busy return from the Spanish expedition. However, with temperatures in the mid twenties, light winds and perfect lines of solid swell reaching the shores, we simply had to go out and make the most of conditions here in North Wales. Bluebells are now fully out at The Cottage and also at the coast.

The photos don’t really do the surf justice as the tide was still building as we arrived at the beach. It was a little frustrating waiting for the tide to come in a bit for the better waves. It was worth it though. We got long glassy rides and for a while were the only surfers out. Later in the afternoon it got busy and we got out. Exhausted and happy, we brewed up at the van and dried off in the warmth of the sun!

While out on the island, we decided that a little sea cliff climbing would make a fine end to the day, but to be fair, energy levels were dwindling by this point. As luck would have it, at Four Mile Bridge, a ‘Bagel and Coffee’ shop had just opened for the summer season! We re-fuelled on some delicious, home-made food and took our fresh coffee down to the waters edge (well worth knowing about!). A dream!

Feeling much replenished, we sipped out drinks and looked out at the views of the mountain skyline in the distance.

Next stop was Rhoscolyn, where more bluebells and fresh lambs filled the fields.

The surf was giving some spectacular conditions as they crashed up against the cliffs. “Atmospheric” was how we described it, once we’d scrambled down to just above the splash zone.

It was super exciting to be climbing a route with the sea booming below us!

A couple of seals watched us climb across into the shadows of the corner.

Then it was back up into the sunlight!

Even after regaining the cliff top, we were reluctant to leave, so sat a while watching the views, before eventually leaving around 20:00 as we’d agreed to go and see a friend’s band play at 21:00! Drove pretty much straight to the gig, had a dance and a social, then collapsed into bed once again…
