Slate climbing between the rain

There’s been a light drizzle blowing in on a warm wind all day. We tried to go climbing over at the Llanberis slate quarry in the morning, but turned back half way there as the rain set in properly. Things had ‘sort of’ / almost, dried up in the afternoon, so we tried again after lunch. We weren’t too hopeful and arrived to find our fried Gaz, who’d had the same idea, uncoiling a rope at the base of the route we’d aimed for. A mist was blowing in again and threatening to wet the rock again, so we went quickly up to the top of Bus Stop Quarry, where a few easy routes were just about sheltered.

We climbed the three short bolted routes in quick succession. As I lowered off the last, the rain arrived properly.

We dashed back to the car, arriving just about before the rain.

Delighted to have got a few routes in, we happily retreated to the warmth of the cafe to de-brief!

In other news, the van finally returned home today after a prolonged vacation at the garage to get some critical welding done.
