Little & North Gully scrambles on Tryfan

Early start to catch the best of the weather this morning…

Didn’t take too long to get up from the A5 and around onto Heather Terrace and the warmth of the morning sun.

The Heather Terrace leads up to loads of great climbs and scrambles on the East Face of Tryfan…

I followed my way up to the base of little gully after ticking off the ‘landmarks’ of the others.

Yesterday’s hail storms had left some big deposits!

The sun gave it’s best efforts as I set off up the scramble which is loads easier than it looks.

Little Gully soon rejoins North Gully where it widens out. From here, the final traverse left, gets you to the top via a couple of exposed moves.

And then, suddenly, the summit rocks of Adam and Eve appear. It was dry enough for a quick jump between the two.

While standing on top of the monoliths, I could see some clouds blowing in, so I went over to the west face to have the sun behind me and clouds below – and hopefully a broken-spectre. I was right!

It was cool to have the silhouette of the mountain’s shadow on the ground far below and my little circular rainbow on top.

As another team arrived, I left the wintery summit and made my descent down the west face as usual.

I was back home in time for coffee in the sun with Clare before 11. The afternoon rain never did materialise; in fact, the skies only got clearer! Nice local views though…
