Mynydd Mawr 698m

An absolute stunner of an autumn high pressure weather day. Up high and away from the madness of the crowds in the Ogwen Valley was the order of the day.

Mynydd Mawr over in the far west side of Snowdonia was the perfect place for a quiet hike with Clare. Great views, a nice path and plenty of chat time as we walked up into the sunshine.

Sentries Ridge is a terrific scramble, on the southern cliffs of the mountain, but we decided to keep things simple and stay ‘on foot’ for the day.

Plenty of view points…

This is where the scramble finishes…

We had set out to do a circular walk, but after a long rest on the summit, decided to retrace our steps in order to stay in the sunshine, rather than descend down into the cold and shady eastern side of the peak.

An absolutely beautiful day up in the mountains.
