Some Local Views

I’ve got diary entries (pre-blog!), of almost every route and mountain that I’ve climbed, so after our Peak District expedition last week, I wanted to check that I had been to Beeston Tor before! While I couldn’t exactly remember the whole climb, I was pleased to see that I had climbed it with Clare in 2008! The comments say “Scary Positions” – and that was without 5 people on the hanging belay!

I’ve had a day of ‘sorting’ at The Cottage and as it was a nice afternoon, I decided to cycle over to Llanberis for a couple of errands. The ride there was wonderful. Cool air, but great light.

I bumped into a few friends on the ride over then got a coffee at Rumdoodles, which I sat out on the street to enjoy.

My friend Gary has just published a guidebook that he’s been putting together over at least the last 6 or 7 years. We’ve bumped into him at numerous crags around the country while he’s been trying to get photos of the routes, so it was lovely to see the finished product.

The day got brighter and better. After chatting with various Llanberis friends as they wandered past, I set off back over the mountain.

Coasting down the hill to The Cottage was a joy, with all the local panorama laid out.

I arrived home at 17:00, and switched from bike to car. Clare had just finished work, so we went down to the Menai Straits to catch the last of the light as it was such a nice evening…

The sunset was glowing on our old house below Menai Bridge. That really was a great place to live!

A walk around the island, gave the best views before walking over to the restaurant for dinner – Thanks Pat!
