For the first time in absolutely ages, I’ve been out on the lake with a group in canoes. Such a lovely mode of transport to explore in. Things started off pretty reasonably, with a few little patches of sunshine, but this was soon followed by some squalls of heavy rain.

We made a mini expedition journey to the far side of the lake. While we had lunch, predictably, the wind picked giving a slightly more challenging return journey, along with some good practice of my towing skills!

The showers came and went all day, but usually followed by some warm sunshine. Once the canoes session was finished, Dan and I optimistically went to try and get a few evening climbs in at Marle Buttress. I got a short soaking near the top of one route, but all was not lost, as Dan was able to get the rope up some of the harder routes that I’d not done before as they remained dry thanks to their slight overhanging nature!

We worked our way across the crag, and after a final blast of golden sunlight, we packed up in the dark and walked away by torch light felling suitably pleased to have made the most of the evening.
