Google has not quite got its maps sorted around here – after negotiating some very narrow streets we finally drew the line at having to ford a river bed!

Returning to some common sense and a good old fashion guidebook map, we soon ‘re-located’ the crag we were looking for and its allocated parking spot!

The slabs and climbs here are getting a little polished but are still totally fantastic. The sun was warm but not scorching and a strong breeze kept things nice (without it, it could be scorching here on a sunny day!).

As well as climbing, we found a snake skin that had been shed! A bit gross, but very delicate.

I was delighted to have the job of ‘putting the ropes up’!

Once the group had started to tire, we walked down through the village of Abdalajís in search of a cafe…

Happily, we found one open on a Sunday…

After our little break, it was time to meet the trekking group, who had been up the nearby summit of Pico de la Capilla.

Once reunited, we then took a drive to the north of El Chorro, over the impressive dams and past the big reservoirs. We had planned on a swim at the beach there, but the team voted to return back to base, for a shower and some rest as they were feeing a bit frazzled from the heat. At the ‘staff house’, Dwyn produced a fine cheese board to restore our energy and after a swim in the pool, the team produced their best effort at dinner…
