Gales and heavy showers in the mountains, meant that our planned day scrambling in Cwm Idwal might be a nicer experience over on Anglesey. Although the wind was still just as strong, everyone was grateful that we found some sunshine! On the way over to Holyhead Mountain, we stopped off at the beach to have a quick lesson in sea safety while watching the waves crashing into the bay.

Then having viewed them from sea level, went over to South Stack for the high level view from the RSPB lookout.

Then after a spot of lunch, we set out for Holyhead mountain, taking an adventurous scrambling route to the top, from where we could see the town and harbour.

It was a bit of a battle getting back down as we were going directly into the wind! The drive home was even wilder, through heavy hail showers, downpours and rainbows, with the temperature dropping six degrees and we passed through one deluge!
