Wandering back to Wales

It’s over 1500km from our chalet in Eygliers to The Cottage, but as we travelled back through England, we made a few extra detours along the way to visit some friends and family. First stop was for a walk through the woods at Alice Holt, where we caught up with Lloyd and Sylvia.

As it happened, the Olympic climbers had just begun their first rounds, so we got to the action live as it happened which was pretty exciting and made my palms sweat just watching.

Next stop was Loddington, where we managed to see the younger members of the family who also happened to be staying!

We had our own Olympics, where, and after some very stiff competition from mother (who led the field from the start – apparently having learnt some skills from Grandad in her youth!), I hit a fluke bullseye was delighted to win the Gold Medal in the darts! A full podium medal presentation followed with hand made prizes as well as medals! Worth stopping off for!

The last leg of the drive went smoothly on surprisingly quiet roads as we crept along the north coast of Wales and into the sunset.

All was as we’d left it at The Cottage. Just the small matter of a complete house re-decoration inside to go. After a rest!….
