On the North Wales Coastal Path

There’s a new section of the North Wales coastal path that I’ve been wanting to hike for a while.

After a few days down in Loddington, I finally got the chance, over two days and in contrasting weathers. Day one was particularly wet and with minimal views in any direction.

Time was mostly spent treasure hunting on the beach near Bangor where we found some good rocks.

Despite the weather, there were some signs of Spring:

Today was like being in a different place, despite repeating some sections of the walk.

We had great views out to sea as well as in land as we passed by Penrhyn Castle on the new path through some lovely woodlands.

We even had time to be creative on the beach.

But the highlight of the day was stopping off at the bird reserve, where we were able to watch a Kingfisher! We saw it catch quite a few fish (aided by Uncle Ken’s binoculars!). No close up photos I’m afraid, but absolutely brilliant to watch. A real treat!

  1. Hi Ian,

I enjoyed seeing your next Blog and to see the new footpath near Penrhyn Castle. Funnily enough I saw ‘Flog It’ from the Castle yesterday teatime! It’s a lovely place which Bob and I visited on our way to Anglesey one year.

Glad Spring is coming with the snowdrops beginning to appear. Lovely photos from the second day!  Sheila D
