The last few weeks seem to have vanished without a trace, while we did our two-week Cottage quarantine. I literally don’t know what happened to the time. All concentration and efforts have been on breathing, eating and getting better and it’s been a bit all consuming. But with the newly allowed freedom of the Welsh, we can travel locally to exercise, so treated ourselves to a a short ride in the van to do just that. We climbed here at the beginning of the month, but it’s much less exhausting when you don’t have to arrive under peddle power!
Which is a good thing, given my limited energy reserves and lung capacity at the moment. We climbed a couple of routes as a mist of rain blew through the valley. Usually, we’d plan around these sorts of things, but being out of practice and just wanting to get out climbing, we’d just gone for it. By a happy chance, we were completely sheltered from the gusty wind that was blowing.
Rain had pretty much stopped play at the top of the second route though and the crag was becoming soaked.
We walked down past the goats who seem to have free reign of the valley these days and even without the bike ride, still went for a snooze when we got home!
Later in the afternoon, felling slightly better from the power nap, a gap in the weather, and the ability to do a ten minute drive, saw us climbing an old favourite route in the slate quarry. So happy to be able to do this sort of thing again…
