There was a 40mph wind blowing across the beach today, so not really optimum conditions for most coastal activities. However, the direction suggested that there might be a little sheltered spot where the incoming waves might be breaking in a more rideable way, so we went off to investigate.

It was a bit of a struggle man-handling a seven-foot surfboard down to the beach without getting blown over, but as predicted, once down at sea level, it was relatively calm and I was able to paddle out easily.

I had to wait a bit for the tide to drop off a little, before the waves started working, but once they did, I had the whole little bay to myself and caught some nice rides.

Clare walked a little way along the edge of the bay and managed to snap a few photos, but you’ve really got to zoom in to find me! Where’s Wally in the ocean….!

Arrived home in time for lunch, feeling both salty and refreshed…
