On the North Wales Coastal Path…

Set out from Abergryngan on the north coast and headed west. No navigation issues as long as the sea is on your right had side…

The sea was a hypnotic milky smooth with tiny waves lapping at the high tide mark as we walked and talked, with the Great Orme shrinking in the distance.

Loads of good beach combing to be done and the students found all sorts of treasure, ranging from a set of keys to a half a replica gun!

Plenty of opportunities for geographical education, with the most striking being coastal erosion!

Easy to see how the process is happening in real life.

And as with any student group at the coast, no one goes home with dry feet, even when the waves are small…

We went bird watching in the Spinnies RSPB hide (with Great Uncle Ken’s binoculars!), and finally arrived in Bangor (by the boat yard), just as the weather had begun to turn.

We had swapped bus keys with another group who were heading in the opposite direction, allowing for a lovely one way 7.6km journey.

As we drove away the heavens opened and the return journey was driven with the headlights on, and at slow speed through the deluge! Lucky timing!
