Climbing at Marin

Another belter of a February day! Almost too hot to climb!

We returned to the ease of climbing and proximity at Marin Crag. It’s worth noting that the also excellent crags at Sax, (where we’d climbed on previous trips), climbing is now currently banned due to a land ownership change/dispute.

We climbed a nice little two pitch route up onto the top of the crag, where a pleasant breeze made it nice to hang out.

We also climbed one of the classics easier routes (Prats), in one, long 40m pitch. Clare then came up to my shady spot and then climbed up and past me to where we hoped a chain belay would get us back to the ground in one big abseil. Luckily we were right!

And avoided the tricky walk down!

When we pulled the ropes through, some how a massive knot twisted into the end. Incredibly (and luckily for us), it didn’t catch or get stuck on anything and fell straight to the ground! Phew!

We climbed into the late afternoon after a lunch sprawled out under the shade of an olive tree.

Although the town of Elda was not far away, it was almost silent at the crag. Peaceful bliss as once again we were the only climbers…

A fine end to a particularly fine trip away…
