The guidebook said that the cliff at Reconco, faces south, gets all the sun going and there is nowhere to hide from it! It was right! It’s an amazing sweep of steep limestone that’s just off vertical and with tiny pockets and scoops to hang onto. There is one tree (an Olive, not an Almond as the guide says!), which gave us some shade to rest in.

The temperature has really cranked up, and the wind has dropped off, which almost made it too hot for climbing! Incredible for February.

The grades of the climbs felt a bit stiff, so we stuck to the lower grade climbs that the cliff had to offer. Amazingly, we also had the whole cliff to ourselves again.

This is the type of climbing – sustained… My finger tips and toes were sore by the time I got down!

This is the lonely Olive tree that gave us some shade to rest in…

By 5pm, we were roasted and so was the rock. Our fingers were also a bit too sore for any more, so we hiked the 20 minutes back to the car where we had a spare bottle of water stashed.
