Toes in the Sea at Soustini Beach

After another fine start to the day, breakfasting on the rooftop, we decided to check out the coast and get our toes dipped in the sea. Didn’t quite feel up to a full swim, but it was good to be ‘testing the waters’.

Breakfast this morning consisted of a pile of freshly baked ‘cheese pies’ (Tiganopsomo in Greek), – a traditional product of this region, that our host had baked and delivered to the front door, still hot from the oven at 9am! Thank you very much!

Fully filled with warm cheese and heavy pastry, we eventually made the 12minute drive over to the seaside. It was warm as we hiked a short distance along the coastline. We stopped briefly at Kimi beach, but a light breeze was taking the edge off the temperatures and not making the swim option quite so inviting. The geology, however was fantastic.

The water temperature was cool – Not cold, but not warm. Very nice for walking barefoot along the waters edge…

The rocks have all sorts of stripes and strata…

We returned back to the pad for a late lunch (and nap!), so as not to ‘over do it’ and as the afternoon turned to evening I took a short trek to take on the local supermarket. It’s fun being in a shop that sells nothing that you’re used to purchasing! I came away with some fresh vegetables and a loaf of bread from the bakery, but didn’t have the stomach for anything the local butcher was hacking at!
