I literally crawled from the warmth of the dark bedroom – I was tired and didn’t want get up yet, but on seeing the even warmer light of the morning sun on our rooftop terrace, it was a move worth making!

And things got even better with a breakfast of the cake we’d been gifted the night before – with a drizzle of local honey as well…

I got a Google ‘reminder’ of what I was doing a year ago, and we had a good laugh that I was basically doing the same thing, dressed in the same clothes, but in a different country this year! The left photo was Portugal last December before setting out on our ‘Trans-Algavarian’ bike tour, the right is this morning. Timeless! Ha ha…

If you had to design a good place to convalesce after an illness, this balcony is about as good as it gets…

After lunch, we did venture out to have a look around our new neighbourhood. Konistres is a quiet little town on the edge of the mountains. The sea is only a ten minute drive away, the other side of the hill that we look out on.

It was nice to take a slow walk, looking at all the new or different plants and signs that show that you’re really somewhere different.

It’s a very pleasant 17°C or so, and on one hand all thoughts of winter have gone, but on the other had, we found a snowman outside our house!

And on the second balcony, that we moved to later in the afternoon to stay in the sunshine, there is some ‘snow frosted’ greenery decorating the banister!

As the sun moved around the house, we followed it by sitting in different aspect balconies, revelling in the feeling of sun on skin.

After an early dinner, we managed another short walk along the high street, which is actually rather well adorned with festive lightning for a little town in the middle of nowhere!

The local bakery is open well into the evening and well supplied with sweet products as well as the odd loaf of bread!
