Leadership in the Lake District

A few days ‘away’ in the Lake District on a course in ‘Strategic Leadership’. After leaving Wales, I’d got as far as this fine (and very cheap!) hotel, where I spent the night before carrying on to join the course on Friday morning.

As back home, there are some super colours on display! Although the course was mostly indoor based, there was a great view from ‘Humphrey Head’ over the estuary, where we were based.

Late in the afternoon we took part in a ‘walk-shop’ discussion workshop and hiked out to the point, that was marked by a trig point – another new one for me!

There was a good sunset as we discussed the challenges and opportunities in Outdoor Education, before heading off to continue the debate in the pub…

We had to do a communication exercise as part of the second day, giving instructions to replicate a drawing. I think we did quite well…

I left as the sun was setting again, so didn’t get to see much of the Lake District on this fleeting visit…

Although the roads around Grange over Sands were almost lake like still after the mid-week storms.

I almost stopped off in Manchester to see another band play as I was passing by, but decided that might be a step too far, given that I had a day in the mountains planned for Sunday, and returned directly to The Cottage instead…
