Woodland Relaxation…

Saturday night in Bethesda was an absolute hoot! After meeting up with friends at a fantastic ‘November BBQ’ we had a social afternoon, but had to leave one party and head to another! We’d forgotten to book tickets to the sold out gig, but after making a few calls to a well connected friend, we had two tickets waiting for us on the door when we arrived! Amazing! The ‘Peatbog Faeries’ were not my ordinary choice of music, but they put on a great show and the whole venue was bouncing and dancing until the end, with the crowd roaring for an encore! It was absolute mayhem! And how wonderful to be able to walk home for tea and toast at The Cottage afterwards!

Sunday therefore required a more relaxed approach, so we took the opportunity to explore a private woodlands, to the south of Snowdon. I had wanted to visit the place for a while now, to see it’s suitability for taking some students to do some bushcraft skills, and although the owner (someone I met at University!), couldn’t make it, he send over instructions of how to get in and said we could have a look around.

It turned out to be a fine way to spend a sunny Sunday… All very relaxing…

We took brew materials and the guitar, listened to the birds, spotted a few fungi and explored to each corner, working out how best to use the place in future. Thanks Tim!

The cliffs of Tremadog were only a short drive away, and although the afternoon light was fading fast, we decided we’d got time for a ‘quick climb’ before headtorches would be required.

We topped out in a beautiful light as the sun was setting…

And were able to abseil back down to the ground with out the assistance of a headtorch (that we’d left in the van!).

Feeling hungry, we drove a further 10mins to the coast and at Criccieth, watched the moonlight on the waves, before tucking into an early dinner at Dylan’s. Mega,
