As predicted, we woke late to the sound of winds whistling around the old stable that we are staying in. There was no rush to do anything or go anywhere. After a nice lie in, a warmed croissant and several coffees, we eventually ventured out into the day for a walk around the village during a lull in the rain.

The houses here are almost all constructed with a pebble facia, which actually look pretty cool, but must have taken some time to both collect and stick together?

After spending a small fortune gathering a few supplies from the village shop, we took a stroll to the beach to stretch our legs and work up an appetite. It felt like a completely different place to last night. We could barely stand up in the wind as good sized waves crashed up and down the beach. The skies were fantastically dark and ominous.

We made it to the pub around 2pm for a late lunch and seeing how neither of us had to drive anywhere, indulged in a bit of light day time drinking while the rain battered on the windows.

Our post lunch walk to the local windmill was badly timed and we received a good soaking as another squall passed through.

We didn’t mind too much and were both just glad that we didn’t have to cycle anywhere today. Our accommodation is also ridiculously warm, so we soon dried off. We both agreed to stay off the internet for the rest of the day and the evening was passed, happily reading on the sofa and breaking out the sewing repair kit as yesterday, I discovered that my shorts have literally worn through!
