A super day in the local neighbourhood, making the most of the afternoon sunshine. A nice way to spend my last day in North Wales, before heading to Africa tomorrow!

The morning rains took until lunchtime to pass over, which gave me chance to pack my final bits of trekking kit and check the paperwork involved with leading a group of students through Morocco’s Atlas mountains. Compared to the day before’s dip in the river, the lake felt wonderfully warm!

After a good amount of relaxing in the sunshine and a good swim, we made last orders at the cafe, for an all day breakfast late lunch at 15:30!

Feeling re-fuelled, we carried on up the hill to the slate quarries for a couple of quick climbs.

It was the first time in a while we’d been in and it felt good to be back. Two great routes and also spotted a new bolted line to go back for at some point.

Although the sun had left the cliff face, the air remained nice and warm.

A short walk through a tunnel got us back towards the van…

And from there we nipped down to the coast for a final farewell drink…

There was a beauty sun set at The Straits. All being well I’ll be watching the sun set in Africa tomorrow!
