While Clare was off to speak at the conference, I spent my morning, checking out the sights of Bristol and it’s wealth of coffee shops!

Following the advice from a few friends, I set out on foot of a walk about around the Clifton area, which given the warm weather was in its prime, with no shortage of impressive buildings.

Purely by chance, I soon found myself opposite the Museum and Art Gallery, so I ducked inside to have a look around.

Well worth a visit! Even just to look at the building, never mind all the stuff inside it.

There was even a little Goldcrest on display!

The university building was a little further down the road and even more impressive.

Long terraces of flats and plenty of park land made the walk very enjoyable. If there’s a cost of living crisis in the UK at the moment, there’s no trace of it around here…

Having seen it from a distance yesterday, this time I went over to see the suspension bridge close up.

You can walk across for free, but it’ll cost you a pound by car. Below are the cliffs that I climbed on my last visit over twenty years ago.

The final walk back across the downs was blisteringly hot! I had to re-route to walk in the shade of one of the tree lined avenues to keep cool. Picked up Clare late in the afternoon and we headed straight onto the M5 and northwards. Apart from 20minutes with the engine off (minutes after a service station stop), we didn’t pause until arriving back at The Cottage later than night…
