Woke up to more snow (about 5cm on the car outside and more higher up) and no views. Snow showers have been coming and going all day along with the views. There was no rush to get out and about, so we spent the morning inside while Clare did some ‘office work’ and sorted some bits and bobs.

After lunch we drove a few minutes long the coast to Kavløysletta to just before the bridge crosses over to Tromso and the airport. From here we skinned uphill, putting in our own track in the freshly fallen snow.

The visibility came and went but the terrain was straight forward with no major navigational concerns should it disappear completely. We watched a few snowy squalls travel up the fjords but miss us completely, while others enveloped us!

We were aiming for a little summit called Finnslandfjellet, which was marked by a small cairn at 426m.

We dug in behind the rocks and took what shelter we could as the clouds came down again and snow swirled in the air around us.

Once we’d eaten our snacks and had a drink, we decided to head back down through the glorious fresh powder snow.

The easy angle and ankle deep fresh snow was a delight, despite the fact that at times we couldn’t see very much! It’s such a great sensation floating quietly along without a sound.

It didn’t take long to reach the car again!

By the time we’d had dinner, more fresh snow had fallen and the car was starting to disappear again.

The wind was blowing snow around the house and the snowdrift outside the window has been getting higher! The temperature has dropped to -5°C though…
