It was a particularly fine April Fools Day and not just because it was our twelfth wedding anniversary! The sun was shining, the air felt warm and we both had the day off together…

The vibe around The Cottage was suggesting a slow start, with us heading out around lunchtime, where we went out for an early lunch at the café where we’d had our wedding reception all those years back.

By the time we reached Llanberis it was unseasonably warm – lovely to feel, but slightly weird, having spent a little bit of the morning, packing hats. gloves and arctic gear for my next expedition which leaves in a few days!

From Llanberis High Street to the summit, we pretty much had the mountain to ourselves for the day…

And a crystal clear view of almost every peak in every direction!

It took just over an hour to reach the summit cairn, where we sheltered from a rather nippy breeze.

Heading back down, we had the wind behind us…

It got warmer the lower we got and the gorse smelled strong.

An lovely way to mark the day…
