I’ve been hosting an ‘Inter-Schools Climbing Competition’ today at The Boardroom Climbing Wall in Deeside. A top quality day with lot’s of young climbers giving it loads of effort, making friends and having fun. Very enjoyable indeed.

Afterwards, as the weather is so good, we decided there was just enough time, warmth and daylight to check out a new crag. Actually, it’s an old crag, but having been banned for many years, climbers are now allowed back (provided they abide by a few rules, which was fine by us). John, Andrew and Aled, who I had been working with were all up for it, so we grabbed a couple of ropes and drove over.

As the sun set, we squeezed in four great routes on the sharp and pocketed limestone. Well worth a visit and a few more routes to return for.

From the top of the crag, there was a wonderful sunset too!

A fine way to finish a fine day (as I was a bit gutted to have been in a climbing wall all day!)…
