Climbing at Carreg Foel Gron

Having had such a good day yesterday, I returned to Carreg y Foel Gron with Clare to climb some more of the routes. There was a little less sunshine, but the air was warm and we were excited to be somewhere new together.

Clare started off by leading one of the climbs I’d tried yesterday.

Then we took it in turns to climb as many routes as we could.

We found some old gear at the top of the crag, but didn’t fancy lowering down off it!

Nice rock, nice moves and mostly good protection too.

As the day wore on, the sun came out as well. Bonus!

You can just make out the van parked down by the little lake.

This is the view from the cliff base – as you can see there was just us for miles and miles – a bit like up on the North Pennines a few weeks back.

As it was so lovely and sunny, we decided to not rush away and instead, brewed up in the back of the van, enjoying the warmth of the sun that was streaming in on us.

We’d come prepared with a few treats, just in case this was an option!

A fine way to finish a days climbing together! On the way home we stopped in Llanberis for a couple of social visits and to borrow some guidebooks as we are planning our summer travels at the moment. Arrived home around 7pm completely exhausted and very happy…
