Ahhh! A blissful day of rest after a fantastic, but somewhat exhausting few weeks! We arrived at our apartment in central Faro at 20:00; exactly eight hours after leaving The Cottage. ‘Welcome Drinks’ had been left out for us and were well received!

On arrival at the Airport, we had the rather luxurious experience of having a driver waiting for us in the arrivals hall! A ten minute taxi ride delivered us to the door of the apartment, which is very cool. It’s a loft apartment with an ‘industrial’ theme, yet very comfortable! After a glass of local wine to celebrate our arrival, we took a short stroll around the city streets to stretch our legs from a day of travel.

In the morning, we were delighted to find it was warm enough to have shorts on and enjoyed a slow breakfast on the terrace!

We then spent the day exploring the town on foot, checking out the sights…

We soon found ourselves down at the Marina…

And here’s a few other views from the day…

There were lots of cafe and restaurants to choose from – some more appealing than others!

We also made use of our private roof top terrace when we got a bit tired.

Then after lunch, a bit more gentle sight seeing…

I just walked down to the shop to get some food for tomorrow’s breakfast, and couldn’t help noticing the temperature. Compared to the -15°C of Norway a few days ago, +19°C felt very nice indeed for evening temperatures!

It’s been the perfect place to rest and re-group, before starting our cycle tour. Early to bed now before another journey into the unknown begins!
