Glyder Fawr via Seniors Ridge

More great weather in Snowdonia for today’s ‘Mountain Skills’ Course that I was running. The clouds were on, off, above and below the summits, which gave perfect hiking conditions and lots of ‘atmosphere’.

From Ogwen Cottage, we ascended the ‘Gribin Ridge’ up to Glyder Fawr (1001m).

It’s a steady hike for the first part, but the final ridge gives some great scrambling.

The views came and went as we got higher. From the top of the ridge, one team went left to Glyder Fach – we turned right and navigated to Glyder Fawr.

Up on the top plateau, it was easy to become disorientated, but the sun was a good navigational marker!

It was hats and gloves weather though! Only a slight breeze up there, but a very cold one!

We navigated to the top of the Devil’s Kitchen, then descended into a beautifully calm Cwm Idwal. A real stunner.
