The mountains remained shrouded in low clouds and damp air again today and I was just settling into some work, when Clare came in and announced that we should ‘down tools’ and head out to have a holiday on the sunny isle of Anglesey!

It wasn’t entirely ‘sunny’ at Newbrough beach, but it was considerably warmer and certainly drier than on the mainland. We did a 7km run along the sand and out and around the island which was accessible due to the low tide. Afterwards, we ‘cooled off’ with a quick swim in the sea! Unsurprisingly, given the prevailing conditions, we had mile and miles of beach to ourselves.

We had taken a big picnic to enjoy once we’d dried off and luckily we only noticed the enormous jellyfish once we’d dried off!

Although the views were great, we did begin to cool down a bit too much for comfort, so returned to the van for a fresh hot coffee, more food and some cosy chat.

It felt a world away from The Cottage.

After what felt like a holiday away, we were home in time for dinner and a last blast of light across the mountains.
