We had nearly 50mm of rain overnight at The Cottage and by morning, the steam by the house had turned into a decent sized river as the water made its way to the sea.

Despite the rain, it remained pretty warm all day and after a few bursts of strong sunshine at The Cottage, we decided to leave our computer based jobs and go to the beach for a swim. Our enthusiasm was only slightly dampened as we drove through some more torrential rain to get there. It wasn’t quite as we’d hoped, but we met Matt and Em and had a good chat while psyching up to get in.

After getting changed, there was a brief pause as more rain hit and we questioned whether it was a good idea or not, but we figured we’d get wet either way!

Once in the water (as hoped), it was actually warmed than standing on the beach – but it was the getting in and out that chilled us down! – The tide was a long way out!

Still, it was good to get out, be sociable and active all at once and we arrived home refreshed. It wasn’t a surprise that we’d had the whole beach to ourselves!
