Climbing on the Dewerstone

I’m on a rock climbing expedition to the South West of England this week with a small group of students, and fellow Mountaineering Instructor, Dave (whom I did my teaching practice with over 20years ago!). On arriving in Dartmoor, we had a scramble on Hay Tor and the Low Man as the sun set and the next day, got climbing properly at The Dewerstone.

A great day of guiding some students up a couple of classic Dewerstone rock climbs. It was an overcast day, but only a few passing showers threatened to spoil the fun. I’m testing a couple of new jackets for Rab, so it was actually good test conditions and happily I stayed warm and dry!

We climbed two multi-pitch routes during the day. Before returning back to the bunkhouse on Dartmoor, where even though it’s June, we all still enjoyed being sat around the fire as our ‘evening activity’ good chat and some strong debating after a super day on the rock.
