There was a very small weather window of no wind and good surf this morning. The only downside was that it was also pouring very with rain and the window was only open between 7 and 9am! Another early start ensued, and we rolled out of bed and straight into the van…

Despite driving through a real deluge, we arrived at the beach to find glassy waves and only a couple of others keen enough to be up early in the bank holiday Sunday. We had a wonderful surf while Arctic terns dive bombed into the water around us getting their breakfast as the rain bounced off the ocean surface in millions of droplets.

We were so excited to be out and about and knowing that we had a week of building working approaching at The Cottage, we decided to find some breakfast ourselves before heading home. We hit the jackpot in town, where we discovered a new cafe! The rain had just stopped and the sun even came through a bit, so we got to eat outside as well! Result!

Well fed and exercised, we returned home to get stuck into some Cottage work, getting the place ready for the builders, who arrive on Tuesday…
