To avoid the busyness of the National Park on a Bank holiday weekend, and to maximise of the small window of good conditions, we were up and out early with the paddleboards.

Clare has spotted that there was no wind and blue skies forecast for the first few hours of the morning, before higher clouds and a breeze was due to arrive. Perfect Paddleboard conditions, but ones that required an early alarm to make the most of. Despite feeing a bit bleary eyed, it was worth it to have the mirror calm quiet lake to ourselves…

A short burst of energy to get the boards inflated was all it took before gracefully gliding through the water, putting in the first ripples of the day.

It was a pretty magic morning and well worth dragging ourselves out of bed for. The view of Snowdon in the distance was crystal clear.

I took a lot of photos! These are my favourites…

Not much else to say really. A wonderful couple of hours, circumnavigating the two lakes, watching the birds and soaking up the morning ambiance.

Neither of us fancied a swim afterwards, so we return The Cottage for a late breakfast in the sunshine. Great holiday vibes. Later in the afternoon, making the most of an unusually relaxed Saturday with very little of urgency to get done, I walked down to the village to meet a friend at the local pub/brewery.

On the way there (a walk that takes about 15minutes), I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the fact that route to my local pub is traffic free and has views like this along the way!
