Riding Home

I took the van to Llandudno today with my bike stashed in the back. After a day of meetings and ‘desk work’, it was a real joy to cycle away with the wind at my back and the sun in my eyes.

We’re very lucky to have a good cycle route that leads pretty much to The Cottage front door, and passes by some very nice views.

I also got to finally try out the new section of smooth tarmac that has recently been laid alongside the A55. While the cycle way is a good addition, I couldn’t believe that it’s been lined with Hawthorn bushes?!! Seriously?! Did not one of the planner or planters question the choice of bush?.. Clearly they have never ridden a bike or fixed a puncture…

The sea side section felt like easy peddling as I headed west, but I had to work hard for the final forty minutes as I crept upwards into the mountains, to where I (very gratefully) found Clare had left a delicious dinner waiting for me!

It was worth it for the quiet, cloudless views… Total ride was 33km to get home.
