Cold Wind, Warm Rock

In the direct sunlight, the weather has been glorious, and for a while, during the morning, we were working in T-Shirts in The Cottage garden. Anywhere exposed to the wind was a very different story!

Up in the quarries, the views of Snowdon were great, but best enjoyed from the shelter of a rock pile! We sat and sunbathed for a little while, the geared up and hiked down to the base of the ‘skyline’ level.

We’d chosen well and the rock was warmed from the sun yet sheltered from the cold wind. Our route followed the curving corner before finished up the steeper headwall.

It’s worth remembering to take plenty of quickdraws as it’s about a 40m pitch! On top, the belay was sunny, but cooler – one route was enough and we returned to The Cottage energised ready for painting the shed!
