A last minute plan suddenly came together to head over to Bala for some white water kayaking. After last weeks day on the Llugwy, the psych was high for some more time on the water, and with a wet and windy day on the way, kayaking fitted the bill.

It had been a couple of years since I’d made a descent of the Treweryn. It’s a brilliant river and was well worth the drive over. Plenty of exciting rapids, with good eddies along the way to duck into and catch your breath between the drops.

We ran several sections multiple times by carrying our boats back up stream. After several hail showers, things brightened up after a warming cuppa in the cafe once off the water.

Having arrived with the straps from one boat having come undone, we made double sure things were tight for the way home. A lucky escape!

Arrived home in time for a walk around the neighbourhood with Clare in a new test jacket from Rab. Plenty of showery weather still forecast, so it should get put through its paces without too much effort!
