Back at the Beach

After a morning of Cottage jobs, the day was refusing to give way to the forecasted wind and rain, so capitalising on the spell of brightness, we returned to the coast to soak up some vitamin D and big views.

The tide was low which gave us plenty of space to hike north along the beach towards the mouth of the Menai Straits. A fine place for a walk and talk. All the views but with not too much effort required!

As we neared the van, we could see a big squall out to sea. Somewhere out on the horizon was getting a decent downpour.

It was looking dry back at the van though, so we decided to stay for the sunset. The wind was making things feel much cooler than yesterday, but we had a clear view of the horizon this time and it looked like some good colours might be on the way.

We got a couple of mint teas brewing and settled in to the comfort of the back of the van to watch the show.

In the other direction, back towards the mountains, the last of the light was reflecting off the big clouds that were stacking up over Snowdonia. It doesn’t look that impressive in the photo below, but it felt like a bit of a ‘moment’ at the time!

And then it was gone… Leaving us to drive the short distance back to The Cottage, where we’d left the fire lit for a warm and cosy welcome home…

  1. Stunning photos of the clouds and sea – you certainly get out into the fresh air when you can and thoroughly enjoy it all. From yesterday’s blog: I don’t know how you can get back into a wet wetsuit – urgh! However it was worth it. Well done! Sheila D
