Woodland Wanderings

Woke up to a little more fresh snow this morning. Needless to say, it was chaos on the roads, after a few false starts, I got to where I needed to be!

Things became much more relaxed once my students and I reached the woods where we were to spend the day discovering, exploring and conserving.

The temperature was only hovering around freezing for the entire day, so having got ourselves established in a nice sun soaked clearing, job number one was to get a fire going.

Followed shortly after by getting the brews on!

Everyone then cooked their own hot lunch before we began to explore the woods.

The lost art of tree identification took up a good part of the afternoon as well as a hunt to find the most delicate or ornate natural thing in the woods. Everyone got stuck into this challenge and came up with some very cool finds. It was good to be in amongst the trees, with sunlight filtering through the branches and feeling hidden away from the world…
