Power Out

The final day of the Lake District expedition was a wet one! A storm blew through overnight and several campers were seen abandoning tents at 1am, but my team seemed to fare the weather well. They set off in high spirits, knowing the end was in sight, even if the views were limited!

A final damp checkpoint

It was a wild drive home, in gales and heavy rain. I had to hang onto the steering wheel at times! On arrival back at The Cottage, I got completely soaked just getting to the back door! Winds had recently brought down the power lines, so dreams of a nice hot shower had to be put on hold!

Low lighting at The Cottage

We got the fire lit and plenty of candles out which gave some lovely ambience. It would have been very romantic had it not been coughing and spluttering so much! Much to my relief, the lights came in just before bed time, so I was able to have a good shower before turning in, utterly exhausted…
