From Wasdale, I had to check on my team of students as they crossed the Black Sail Pass. Rather than head off before or after them, I took a scenic route via Kirk Fell, a peak that I’m not sure if I’ve been up before?..

The path up Kirk Fell, goes directly uphill at a continuous angle from the valley to the summit. Not ideal, but I thought the excursion would help to sweat the virus out of me, as I was still feeling rather poorly. I set a good pace, sweated hard and 50 minutes later was stood on the sun it enjoying the views. Step but scenic probably describes it best!

I didn’t hang around as I needed to beat the team to the Pass and it was pretty nippy up there in the wind.

I had time for a twenty minute nap before the guys arrived. They cooked up some noodles for lunch then set off towards Buttermere.

I returned solo through Mosedale back to the minibus at Wasdale. After a quick brew sat on the back of the van, I had a shower to freshen up then set off of the very long drive around to Buttermere, where the team were happily all set up at camp.
