Rain, rain and more rain! As fast as I emptied the rain gauge at The Cottage, it kept filling back up. Plans for a team kayak descent of some of the rivers were reviewed in the morning and we all agreed that they might provide a bit more excitement than we wanted to sign up for. In fact, a lot of the rivers had already migrated into the fields!

After deciding not to kayak, we re-scheduled plans and set off to the lake for a swim, on the way to the climbing wall.

The lake as at least a metre higher than our previous visit! It was surprisingly sheltered though and we enjoyed a good swim, followed by a cafe stop!

Then onto the climbing wall! Usually I don’t go to the indoor walls until the clocks change in October, but as we have a few climbing trips on the horizon we decided to get a bit of training started. Some friends also had the same idea, so it was a very social afternoon too.

I’m off to the Lake District now for a bit, so after getting packed, it was off to bed ready for a journey across the fells in the morning.
