Daragh and Katrina lent us some hand jamming gloves to protect the back of our hand. It felt weird at first, but they really made a difference. It almost felt like cheating, they were so grippy!
All of the climbs were good and a great place for an introduction to crack climbing. We finished by climbing one of Squamish’s ‘Top 100’ routes. It’s not a style of route that we’d normally go for, but Katrina assured us it was a classic and quickly put a rope up.
While we had a power nap!
The top section of the climb involved disappearing into a bottomless cave!
Having all got to the top, we were hot, sweaty and pretty pumped out, so beat a retreat to Murrin Lake for a cool down. Prior to swimming I felt like I could just curl up and sleep, but the cooling waters provided a renewed boost of energy.
On the way home we stopped off in Squamish and bought a ‘Sockeye’ Salmon, then had a magical evening barbecuing it down by the river beach. It was quite a spot to have virtually as your back yard!
The food was delicious.
And the surroundings too.
A stunning place to eat, relax and catch up on each others news.
