Conwy Mountain – Climbing Intro

Up on ‘The Slabs’, above Conwy, the crag was proving much less shelter (and sunshine) from the cold northerly than I had hoped for. We were well wrapped up, but could still enjoy the views of the castle and estuary from the cliff.

And also got to watch a low flying hurcules do a fly past over Llandudno and down the river!

It’s a great place (especially when it’s warmer!) to be teaching climbing. I had a really mixed group of students, but we were able to find something for everyone to work on and achieve. Beginners to lead climbing with gear placements – we covered a lot today!

As well as playing hunt the duck mid climb!

Very enjoyable day, with some very psyched young climbers!
Then a nice run up to the Ogwen Valley with Clare before dark. I think this could be the best spell of autumn weather we’ve known up here.
